Bob loses out to Scheffler at the BMW Championship

Despite starting the day with a 4-shot lead, it was not to be for Bob MacIntyre, as a 3 over par final round saw him finish 2 shots behind World no. 1, Scottie Scheffler in the penultimate event of the FedEx Cup, the BMW Championship.

With scores of 62, 64 & 68 in the first 3 rounds, Bob had been in superb form as he moved away from the field, however early on in the final round, he saw his lead reduce, and then Scheffler move ahead, as Bob struggled to make a breakthrough in the front nine.

Late on in the round, there was still a glimmer of hope when Bob managed his first birdie of the day on the 16th to bring him within one shot of Scheffler, however a superb chip-in birdie on the 17th was enough for Scheffler to win by 2 shots.

Bob’s 2nd place finish saw him move up to 9th place in the FedEx Cup, and he now heads to Atlanta to compete in the Tour Championship, the last event of the PGA Tour season.

Whilst disappointed with the outcome, it was another superb week for Bob, when he also secured his place in Luke Donald’s European Ryder Cup team, who will defend the trophy at Bethpage Black in New York at the end of September.
