Bob MacIntyre is Player of the Month for September

Bob MacIntyre has been crowned September Golfer of the Month presented by DP World after receiving 54% of the public vote. His victory at the DS Automobiles Italian Open made it back-to-back wins for Scotland in this vote following Ewen Ferguson in August.

The 2019 Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year won his second DP World Tour title in dramatic fashion at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club, defeating the reigning U.S. Open Champion Matt Fitzpatrick in a play-off.

Starting the day three shots behind overnight leader Fitzpatrick,  Bob went on a front nine tear taking just 29 strokes to hit the top of the leaderboard. Despite back back-to-back bogies on the back nine, the popular left hander birdied his final hole to card a best of the week 64 to set the clubhouse target of 14 under-par.

Fitzpatrick matched Bob’s score with a birdie of his own on the 18th as the pair headed for a play-off at the 2023 Ryder Cup venue, a place that looks destined to deliver dramatic finishes next September. Bob stepped up and found the fairway as Fitzpatrick found the rough on the left side before hitting a bullet to the heart of the green that ended up just on the fringe. With Fitzpatrick failing to get up and down, Bob secured the title with a chip and a putt of his own from close range.
