Bob MacIntyre narrowly misses out on Genesis Scottish Open

It took a world-class finish from Rory McIlroy to deny Bob MacIntyre a win at the Genesis Scottish Open, where birdies on the final two holes gave Rory victory by one stroke.

Starting the day 5 shots behind the leader, Bob played superbly all day in some ferocious wind conditions. Sharing the lead as he came down the final hole, Bob hit a magnificent second shot into the green to set up the birdie and card a final round 64 - arguably the best round of the week considering the Sunday conditions.

It looked like that might just be enough for Bob, but Rory’s birdie-birdie finish was enough to secure the win and take the Genesis title. Bob’s runner-up spot did, however, win him the Jock MacVicar Trophy as the top home player.

Following on from his performance the previous week in Denmark, Bob now moves on to Hoylake for The Open Championship with great confidence.

Whilst disappointed to miss out on winning his home event, Bob now moves up to 54 on the OWGR, 6th place on the Race to Dubai, and sits 3rd on the Ryder Cup standings, so it was still a quite outstanding week.

Grant Forrest also had a very successful week, and only narrowly missed out on securing the last Open Championship spot, but his 11thplace finish did move him into the top 30 on the Race to Dubai.
