Grant Forrest turned his season around with a dramatic final hole victory in the Open de España at the Real Club de Campo Villa in Madrid.
Grant had been in excellent form all week and held the lead (or a share of the lead) at the end of each of the first three rounds.
In a fairly congested and tight leaderboard, Grant started the Final Round tied for the lead with England’s Joe Dean. With relatively little movement at the top, a couple of dropped shots toward the end of the front nine, saw Grant 2 behind as made the turn. However, a couple of birdies on 13 and 14 brought Grant right back into contention, and he shared the lead as he stood on the 18th tee. Needing a birdie to avoid a play-off, Grant chipped in close and sank a three foot putt to secure his 3rdDP World Tour title.

Grant’s two previous victories had both held even more significance to him as they had been won on home soil, however this win in Spain is also very special as it gives him invites to The Masters and The Open in 2027. Grant has already competed in two Open Championships, however this will be the first time that he will play at Augusta, and it will be the realisation of one of his golfing ambitions to compete there.

Grant’s win moves him up to 27th on the Race to Dubai and he will now extend his season to play in the Tour Championship Final.
Before then, Grant moves onto India now for next week’s DP World India Championship in New Delhi.
